Pangong Lake

The beautiful high altitude Pangong Lake is another popular destination. 160 km from Leh, the jeep ride will take you along a picturesque route that covers Shey and Thikse with their interesting monasteries, before turning off into the side valley of Chemrey. The road leads over the Chang - la, the high pass over the Ladakh mountain range. The main attraction of this circuit is the Pangong Lake, situated at 4,267 metres. Over 130 kms long, the lake is long narrow basin only six or seven kilometres across at its widest point, but over 130km long. The lake forms a part of the international border between India and China.
