Dha Hanu (Apricots Valley)

This beautiful place is known by many names, "Little Europe", “Brok Pa”, “Apricots Valley”, and is very different from rest of Ladakh. The area lies to the west of Ladakh, some 163 kms from Leh. The steep bare walls of the Indus give the terraced fields more light and heat than other parts of Ladakh. The people are of pure Indo-Aryan stock, perhaps descending from the army of Alexander of Macedonia. There are only about 2,000 people settled in five villages high above the river.
