La Ladakh Travel is an adventure holiday company offering a wide range of activities, from trekking to motorbike trips, in the beautiful and remote Ladakh region of India. La Ladakh Travel was founded by Sonam Giri, who was born in the Ladakhi village of Stok in 1975. Sonam’s ambition is to share his love of Ladakh and its nature with visitors and to provide clients with an exceptional first hand introduction into the culture of the high Himalayas.
Stok, 15 kilometres from the Ladakhi capital of Leh, is a beautiful Himalayan village situated on the slopes of Stok Khangri (one of the highest local peaks at 6,125m). It is also the home of the Ladakhi royal family and their famous Palace still rises above the village.
Sonam has been a guide in Ladakh since 1991 and has a wide range of experience in adventure tourism, including mountain climbing, trekking, rafting, jeep safaris, motor biking and cycling. Sonam has known the local trekking routes and villages of Zansker, the Nubra Valley, Changthang, Lahol and Spiti since his childhood. "I chose this profession because i just love the beauty of nature and wanted to show this to the world and share my experience. I enjoy climbing, trekking and all adventures with people and take my profession as fun and as part of my life"
